MOSCOW
Moscow, one of the largest cities in the world, is the symbolic heart and soul of Russia. Sightseeing begins at Red Square, dominated by St. Basil's Cathedral and by the massive red walls of the Kremlin. Visit the Armory Museum, proceed to see Moscow University and the popular Arbat shopping district. Continue with a drive along the wide boulevards and then stroll through GUM, Russia's largest department store. Rest of the day is at leisure. You may take part in an optional night tour of Moscow or Moscow's famous Metro - an eleborately decorated subway system. (B)

MOSCOW - TVER - NOVGOROD
After an early breakfast at the hotel in Moscow, depart for Tver, an ancient trading port nestled on the banks of the Volga River. Sit back, relax, and enjoy views of Russian country side while your comfortable motor coach drives along the Moscow - St. Petersburg highway. Tver offers fascinating treasures such as Putevoy Dvorets that was built for Catherine the Great as a resting palace on her journeys from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Enjoy a short sightseeing tour of this remarkable city. Continue to the ancient capital of Russia, historic Novgorod, founded almost twelve centuries ago. Overnight at hotel Beresta or similar. NOVGOROD - ST. PETERSBURG
A morning sightseeing tour of Novgorod starts at the Kremlin with a visit to St. Sophia Cathedral. Then, cross the river via a pedestrian bridge to visit the Yaroslav Court. In the afternoon, travel 120 miles North - to St. Petersburg, the former capital of the Romanov Czars. There are not many cities in the world that can match the grace of St. Petersburg. When Peter the Great founded the city in 1703, he hired Europe's best architects, craftsmen and artists to build and decorate his new capital. Spread over 100 islands that are connected by over 600 bridges, St. Petersburg is often called Venice of the North. Morning sightseeing will feature the world-famous Hermitage Museum. Located in the Winter Palace of the Romanov dynasty, the Hermitage houses one of the most comprehensive art collections in the world. Afternoon is free to explore St. Petersburg on your own. (B)

ST. PETERSBURG
By now you have seen the highlights of St. Petersburg. This day is reserved for individual activities, optional tours, and shopping. A wide selection of optional tours will include Petrodvorets famous for Peter the Great's blue and gold Grand Summer Palace and magnificent fountains. Among the most famous attractions are Catherine Palace in Pushkin that houses the Amber Room, the classical ensemble of Pavlovsk, Yusupov Palace, the Russian museum, and a boat trip along rivers and canals of St. Petersburg. You might want to complete your stay in Russia with an energetic Russian folklore performance offered in the evening. (B)
