2007 / 2008 Grand Thailand & Cruise
Formerly known as Siam, the country's name was changed to Thailand in 1939. The country embraces a rich diversity of cultures and traditions. With its history, culture, climate and hospitality, the Kingdom is a never-ending source of fascination for international visitors.
Thailand is a constitutional monarchy. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, has reigned for more than half a century. Thais are known for their friendliness and hospitality. The culture of Thailand is heavily influenced by Buddhism.
Thailand isdivided into four natural regions: the mountains and forests of the North; the vast rice fields of the Central Plains, the semi-arid farm lands of the Northeast plateau, and the tropical islands and long coastline of the peninsula South.
One week in a beach hotel is unlikely to give a visitor a proper insight to a realm with so much to experience. Grand Thailand & Cruise will introduce you to the magic of Bangkok
combined with the first ever 6 night "safari" cruise along the famous
Kwai Noi River aboard the new first class 20 passenger
RV River Kwai
. When you board your floating hotel the jungle closes in and the mountains rise about. The further up the ship sails the narrower the river becomes, with dramatic gorges, deep pools and soaring rapids. Waterfalls cascade down, flowers trail from overhangs... 4 spectacular days in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai complete this true Grand Thailand experience never before available.

The RV River Kwai Deck Plan
|
The RV River Kwai was commissioned specifically for sailing on the narrow and curvy Kwai Noi river. Built in Burma by the renowned Irrawaddy Shipping Company, the RV River Kwai features modern navigational equipment, and is able to circumvent the narrow passages and shallow waters that were previously thought insurmountable.
The ship has 2 decks: a main passenger deck with 10 cabins/20 beds and an open air upper deck covered with a removable awning. All the cabins are accented with the original Burmese teakwood lending the ship a special warmth and luxurious feel. All cabins face outwards with views through sliding glass doors. All have two comfortable lower berths, a full private bathroom with a separate large tiled shower stall, plenty of closet and drawer space (under the beds), individual remote controlled air conditioning units, robes, slippers, and a daily supply of bottled water.
The upper deck is the focal point of the vessel. A bar and a music center are surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs and tables. The rear part of the deck is reserved for beautifully decorated dining tables. All the meals: full buffet breakfasts, sit down lunches, and sit down candlelit dinners are held outside. A crew of 10 and our multi-lingual Cruise Director complement the ship with casual, warm, and friendly service. Ship expenses are signed for and paid at the end. MasterCard and Visa credit cards are accepted.
